LEBONE CENTRE CELEBRATES HERITAGE DAY

The staff and children of the Lebone Centre took the opportunity to celebrate Heritage Day in September, dressing up in traditional outfits, and enjoying a specially prepared lunch of vetkoek and curried mince, and milk tart for pud!

Children came dressed in outfits reflecting their heritage and enjoyed time out in the garden with drums and traditional games. In the kitchen, a large pot of vetkoek was prepared with the curried mince giving off a delicious aroma.

A local donkey cart was decorated with flags and balloons, and took children for rides. At the end of their Heritage Day duties, the donkeys were treated to a large bag of salad goods donated from the Kingswood kitchens, while the donkey cart owners were also given lunch for their participation.

It was a day enjoyed by all – out of the ordinary, celebratory, and colourful. Just as our heritage should be…!
