A pipeline of educational support for 0 – 9 year olds
WHAT WE DO
We provide educational support to children and families in marginalised communities in Makhanda, with the aim of having children at their appropriate developmental level by the end of Grade 3.
We do this through a pipeline programme that consists of the following projects:
• #Every Baby Matters (First 1 000 Days)
• A team of community-based multi-lingual storytellers
• Mikhulu book-sharing workshops for preschool parents
• A multi-lingual preschool (on-site)
• Foundation Phase literacy support projects (Project Read; Nal’ibali Reading Clubs; Classroom Libraries)
• The provision of books and reading resources to homes
• An aftercare and enrichment project (on-site)
